Art and Puerto Ricans

Went to the Figment art festival Governors Island this weekend.  Seemed to be geared towards the kids this year but did see one beautiful, haunting, transient performance that referenced Indian ritual, water, shifting coast lines and a number of other esoteric themes.  It consisted of 8 people walking super slowly in a row along the coast of governors island playing a number of random instruments mixing walking meditation with transcendental music.  Details

After taking the boat back to Manhattan and getting on the subway, we ran into this ruckus.   The annual Puerto Rican day parade had just finished and only on this day are you treated to this kind of insanity.  It was a nice juxtaposition to the high art at the festival.
